The Planets

Now here's a hard question, how many planets are there in our solar system? Thanks to astronomer Mike Brown for discovering another slightly larger planet than Pluto they demoted Pluto to a dwarf planet, thus not classed as a planet anymore. As a question writer this was bad news, it made many of my questions and a ton of pub quiz answers inaccurate and confusing. We're not just talking about questions relating to Pluto itself either, I have created a lot of planet type questions over the years like, "Which is the largest of the four inner rocky planets?", as you can see I had to add the word 'inner' to the question and changed five to four so there's no confusion. Alas, you may or may not be aware that astronomers have confirmed the existence of another planet beyond Pluto that is ten times the size of the Earth, things could get messy on quiz nights. So to recap, there are officially eight planets in our solar system with evidence of a ninth orbiting the outer reaches. The 'Sky at Night' video below is most fascinating and answers a lot of questions you might have on this subject.
